Celebrate the Colony's first year!

This year the
reunion is scheduled for Parent's Weekend, October 1st and 2nd, plus
it will have an added attraction. We are expecting that all our
efforts put forth in recolonizing our Chapter will be rewarded with
a new Charter being granted by National and that this will happen
about this time in the Spring 2011. What
a great time to come to a Reunion when once again there will soon be a
chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity in Ames. Our national organization
provided the support to help attract an excellent group of young men
to the Legion of Honor and to enlighten them into the ways of the
fraternity. We expect that there will be a good turnout of our soon
to be new Brothers.
Looking forward to
seeing Brother Alumni and meeting our newest we will convene in the
Oak Room of the Memorial Union at 6:00 pm on Friday October 1st
for a social hour including a
pay as you go bar plus light refreshments. Dinner will follow at
approximately 7:00 pm with the famous Heartland Buffet. We encourage
each and every one of you to attend and meet these fine young men
plus socialize with your brothers and learn all that has been
occurring with our fraternity.
On Saturday head
coach Paul Rhoads will lead the Cyclones onto the field for a game
against the Texas Tech which always proves exciting. We will attempt
to arrange group seating for those requesting seats early. Three
hours prior to kickoff (we do not know the time yet) we will again
enjoy a fabulous Gamma Sigma Tail Gate extravaganza. Please contact
brothers Shawn Ovenden, Chris Swailes or Craig Adamson for
directions to the tailgate site.
There will be a general map of Stadium and tailgate area at
the bottom of the Reunion webpage.
Those unable to be in Ames for the dinner Friday night should
definitely plan to attend this event. Even the non-football
enthusiasts should find this an enlightening experience.
Now you may have
noticed that there is a different author to this letter than the
past. Brother Dean Kruse
GS 807 has been tireless in the job of Alumni Contact since 2002 and
after 8 years of dedicated contribution to our fraternity, he has
requested to be relieved and is now Emeritus on the Board of
Directors. We owe him
much and our thanks is heartfelt.
I have been appointed to the position of Alumni contact and
will endeavor to follow his footsteps.
